Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult Review

There's a few things that I want to say before I start the review.
First, I'm happy that Jodi Picoult wrote this book.
Second, I respectfully disagree with her notion that people are racist without knowing it.

With that out of the way, I love hated this book, I hated how radical all the characters were. I know, people are like that in real life. There are extreme racists like Adisa and Britt, there are normal people like Kennedy who get shamed for not being biased one way or the other and then change their mind to go with whatever makes them look good, and then there are people like Ruth and Turk that literally go where their life takes them.

Kennedy was not a racist, I don't get what made her a racist other than being white? I think it was highly unnecessary to have Kennedy call herself a racist (but Jodi Picoult called herself a racist in the authors note so that's probably why). I don't Jodi or Kennedy are racists but that's just me.

The story is beautiful but there were some problems that I had with it. Particularly the hospital's way of handling the whole thing, normally hospitals would not allow a patient to deny a nurse because of race. That's an HR nightmare and doesn't happen in normal hospitals. Of course, I also had the problem with some people being racist without knowing it.

It bothered me to the point of wanting to stop reading the book but I really wanted to see Ruth get justice. I am satisfied with the ending, it wouldn't happen that way in real life but in an ideal world it would. The racism infuriated me and I had to see Ruth get her justice. It was just the parts where literally every white person in this whole book was some kind of racist, when it isn't like that in real life.

Otherwise, the book was really good and I definitely recommend it.

Grand Verdict: Annoying in some ways but otherwise amazing
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

My League of Angels Midas Dream Team ~

I've been playing League of Angels 2 lately. It's a browser based mmorpg and is a really reading friendly game. It does require daily participation, even just a little bit, but I am hooked. My current dream team is full of cute girls with wings. haha

I call it the angel dream team and once I complete them I will put on the angel outfit and finish my aesthetically pleasing team. As of right now, I am two heroes away but I can tell that this team is going to be really good. If anyone is looking for a good browser mmorpg to keep up with give this one a try!

Lolirock Season 1 Review

So, I finished Lolirock not that long ago and of course I have to review it. Not only is blogging easier than youtube but I kind of enjoy it more. It feels less awkward and stuff. Perhaps, that's just me being lazy.

Back to Lolirock.

Lolirock is a french cartoon based off of Mahou Shoujo cartoons in Japan. It follows Iris, Talia, and Auriana as they try to keep their town safe, get stronger to save their world Ephedia, and be a girl band. It was kind of odd to me when I first started watching it but I first started watching it dubbed...

DO NOT WATCH LOLIROCK DUBBED IN ENGLISH.

I know it sounds cliche, anime fans say it all the time, but most of the time the anime sounds decent dubbed and it's just them being an elitist. Lolirock's English voice-overs are horrendous. All the main girls sound the same and there was a point where I googled to see if they actually all did have the voice actress. Watching it in French will enhance the watching experience, I will promise you that.

The animation is adorable, awkward sometimes but really adorable. I have a soft spot for shiny animation. The music was catchy to me. I enjoyed the music a lot and have no problems with a lot of the songs. I'm really hoping that the group will be expanded in the next season... Please let this happen.

Verdict: Good For Mahou Shoujo Lovers
Rating: 3 Stars (Out of 5)
Favorite Characters: Izira, Talia

What If All Your Friends Turned on You by Liz Ruckdeschel and Sara James Review

I read these Choose Your Destiny novels when I don't particularly feel like reading anything else. It's a light and easy read.

So these books are about a girl named Haley and you get to choose what happens to Haley throughout each book.

In this book, Haley and her friends are dealing with their boytoys cheating on them and their journey to revenge. In all of my options I chose pretty friend oriented and in other cases what would be best for Haley. Like I didn't make her starve herself or anything. Then, of course, I picked the Alex option as soon as it was available.

Alex is literally the best guy for Haley in these novels as far as I know. Reese is such a tool and is really undeserving of Haley's time so I never give it to him.

They are enjoyable books and I recommend it for when you're looking for something light and cute.

Grand Verdict: Quick and Cute
Rating: 3 stars out of 5
Favorite Characters: Alex

Reading Hiatus: Est 2 Days!

Yes, this is a reading hiatus but it's only for a few days on account of an interesting Tavern Brawl this weekend.

Yes, this week's Tavern Brawl is a repeat but I haven't played it and Tavern Brawl is my favorite way to play Hearthstone (It's difficult when you have no cards to play with).

So I will be on hiatus this weekend and then reading will commence once again on Monday. I may squeeze in a book or two within then but I wouldn't count on it. Haha

I'm preparing for the May Wrap-Up and Haul video. My Wrap-Up isn't particularly impressive but the Haul is between Bookcon and Half Priced Books Mega Clearance. I have a lot of books to haul, so that's good.

There will be blog updates on the weekend but they may or may not be book related. It's sad to say but the world doesn't revolve around books? Yeah. haha

The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh Review

"Our story may have come to a close, but your story is yet to be told.
Make it a story worthy of you."

There is a lot that I have to say about The Wrath & The Dawn duology but I can sum it all down in one simple word: A-M-AZING.

These two  books were the books that got me out of my reading slump. I read one book in a week and the second in a day. I read The Rose & The Dagger within 7 hours and boy was it worth it. The tale was beyond any expectation and when I finished this book I wanted more but I knew that I didn't want anymore at the same time because as Tammara Webber once said that in order for her to write a direct sequel she would have to make something awful happen to her characters, I don't want anything bad to happen to Sharzad and Khalid anymore. They had their hardship.

No, what I want is to know what happened with Vikram because as far as I know we never really found out? I just never knew what the deal was with him. Like, did he die? Did he leave? Did he have a happily ever after like the others? Because after he comes back he's suddenly gone? Like, did I miss something here? But that was my biggest question and it's the one that I personally want answered the most because Vikram was definitely my favorite character in the whole series.

The series did steal my heart away, I loved it from the moment I started reading it to the moment that it ended. Hopefully, we get a book of novellas? Please?

I have a video I did on youtube as well if you want to check it out below. ~

Grand Verdict: Stop Reading This Review And Read These Books
Rating: EVERY STAR I HAVE TO GIVE (which is 5)
Favorite Characters: Vikram, Rahim, Shahrzad, Khalid

Reunion Pass by Emily March Review

" They didn't fight. They didn't have an official breakup event. They just simply... Stopped. "

Before I say anything, it emotionally devastated me when I saw that this was the ELEVENTH book in this series.
I have two other series I'm looking for and now I have to buy the rest of these. Thanks a lot Emily March, WHY DO YOUR BOOKS HAVE TO BE SO DAMN CHARMING?

So, I won this book in a goodreads giveaway and read it in effectively a day.
This book was very heartwarming. Between Lori and Chase's relationship to what happened to Chase and the dog. Captain was definitely one of my favorite parts of the book as well as the tadpoles.
I enjoyed this book thoroughly and I am very happy to have read it.

Grand Verdict: Really damn cute
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
Favorite Characters: Nicholas, Captain

Scream Season 1 Review

Today I had finished the MTV show Scream.

Like any other horror junkie I have seen the series of movies when I was younger and I do greatly appreciate them even though I barely remember them. One day I will rewatch them to have a more critical view but that is not due to happen anytime soon.

Sometimes, I just go onto Netflix to watch Supernatural and Everybody Loves Raymond and Bob's Burgers. Scream had never really grasped my attention until today for some reason. I watched the whole first season in one day. It didn't even take the majority of the day somehow.

To me, it was really exciting. I loved the monologues, the characters, and the lack of jump scares. The lack of jumpscares being the most refreshing thing in this day of horror where every horror movie contains some sort of jumpscare. Every episode I was hyper-analyzing everything until the very end, trying to figure out who the killer was before the show revealed it and yet, I had missed some sort of key detail and was wrong on all accounts.  The killer caught me by surprised and I really can't wait for the next season.

Grand Verdict: Worth Watching Even If You Didn't Watch Scream
Rating: 4 Stars (Out of 5)
Favorite Character(s): Riley, Noah,

Contours of the Heart #4 !!!!

Courage means rising up to defend your beliefs… or daring to question them.

So, back up to 2015, my bestie and I are listening to audiobooks in a never-ending sort of way. We listened to Easy by Tammara Webber and of course I loved it. Erin was Jaqueline's best friend in the book and when I saw this baby sitting in goodreads, well, I freaked the fuck out.

The news of Brave and of Jenny Han's new book was awesome and it made the past week so awesome! Especially because Bookcon happened that same week as well.

I cannot wait for this new book! I will definitely be buying it as soon as it comes out. It kind of makes me want to get the rest of the Contours of the Heart Series and read them and review them.
